1st July:
Hammarby 3-1 Elfsborg: A shock for Elfsborg as they were dumped out of the cup by a superior Hammarby side on the day. The recently relegated Stockholm giants took an early lead through Sebastian Castro-Tello after nine minutes before 2nd half goals from Petter Furuseth and Castro-Tello gave Hammarby a commanding 3-0 lead. Martin Ericsson pulled a goal back for the Allsvenskan side but it is Hammarby who advance to the quarter-finals.
2nd July:
Jönköping Södra 0-2 Örebro: High-flying Örebro progressed to the quarter-finals of the Svenska Cupen after overcoming Superettan strugglers Jönköping Södra 2-0. Both goals came from Brazilian Paulinho Guará, who is starting to pick up some form right now as Örebro head into the next round.
4th July:
Mjällby 4-1 Malmö: Properly the standout result of the last 16 was Mjällby easily progressing to the last 8 with a thumping 4-1 win over Malmö. The game will be remembered for Mostapha El-Kabir's wonder show as he scored all four goals while Malmo had Guillermo Molins pulling a goal back before striker Edward Ofere was sent-off. So Malmö out while Mjällby will be a threat in the last 8.
GAIS 0-0p IF Brommapojkarna: A penalty shoot-out victory saw IF Brommapojkarna advance to the last 8. A 0-0 shutout over the course of 90 minutes and extra-time was settled when Pär Asp converted his crucial penalty for IF Brommapojkarna to record a 4-3 win on penalties.
5th July:
Helsingborgs 2-1 BK Häcken: The double-dream is still on for Helsingborgs but they were made to work for their last 8 place. John Chibuike's strike twelve minutes from time looked to have put BK Häcken through but two late goals from Mattias Lindström and Erik Sundin ensured the last 8 place was Helsingborgs.
Ängelholms 1-2 AIK: AIK are still in the hunt to re-claim the Svenska Cupen after surviving a scare here at Superettan side Ängelholms. It was the hosts who took a quick and shock lead when Mikael Dahlgren struck. AIK responded later on with a goal from Martin Lorentzson which took the tie to extra-time. AIK won the tie with a late, late goal from Antônio Flávio which sealed their last 8 place.
