Elfsborg were on course for victory until Eyjólfur Hédinsson forced a point for GAIS in added time. Elfsborg took the lead five minutes before half-time in front of 8,672 people, Anders Svensson with the goal. Barley three minutes later GAIS were level through their star player Wanderson.
The 2nd half saw chances at either end and it wasn't until four minutes from time when Amadou Jawo put the hosts in front. It looked like staying that way until Icelandic ace Hédinsson found the net.
