GAIS 1-3 Trelleborgs 30th October 2010

Trelleborgs made it three wins from three after they came from behind to beat GAIS. It started well from GAIS, however when they took a 27th minute lead through Jonas Lindberg.
It appeared to be going well from then on for GAIS as they looked like they had control with Trelleborg unable to muster any clear cut chances. Trelleborgs did keep on knocking though in the 2nd half and waited patiently for a break.
That break arrived on 77 minutes as Fredrik Lundgren saw red. Kristian Haynes responded instantly to draw Trelleborgs level. Trelleborgs then took the lead just six minutes later as Haynes got his 2nd of the game. GAIS were shelshocked and conceded a third goal in added time as Magnus Andersson wrapped up the three points for Trelleborgs.
With just a game left for Trelleborgs they are three points behind Elfsborg in 4th place but they need a very unlikely series of results over the next two days to have a realistic chance of making it to the Europa League. GAIS meanwhile are still not safe from relegation.

Ajdarevic on the move?

Orebro's Astrit Ajdarevic is subject to rumours of a move to Malmo. The club signed Ajdarevic as a free agent back in July after he was released from Leicester City. He became a key player for Orebro as they secured Europa League football next season.
Title-chasing Malmo are interested in the player but weather he moves or not it is a sign of how well he has performed this season.
Ajdarevic's contract could be a stumbling block for Malmo. Sources claim he is tied to a 3 year deal which having just signed in July has at least another two left to run.

Svenska Cupen semi-final

Helsingborgs will play Hammarby in the final of the Svenska Cupen after they overcaem Mjallby on Thursday night in the 2nd semi-final.
Mjallby were doing well to keep Helsingborgs out of their goal but the deadlock was broken on 63 minutes as Erik Sundin followed up with another goal in the past week. That settled Helsingborgs and meant Mjallby had to come and attack.
They had further chances but when Markus Holgersson made it 2-0 to the Allsvenskan title-challengers the game was up for Mjallbty and their won't be a cup final to cap what has been a fantastic season for the club.
Helsingborgs will face Hammarby on the 13th November and by then they could be chasing the double.

Svenska Cupen semi-final

Hammarby have reached the final of the Svenska Cupen after a roller-coaster tie at home to Kalmar. The game itself ended 2-2 and the resulting spot-kicks saw Hammarby come out on top.
Marcus Tornstrand put the Superettan side ahead after 25 minutes before Sebastian Castro-Tello made it 2-0 to the hosts on 42 minutes. Hammarby were coasting and looked to have secured their place in the final until Daniel Sobralense's goal on 76 minutes made it a nervy final fifteen minutes.
The nerves showed as Erik Israelsson levelled the scores at 2-2 on 83 minutes. There was no winner in extra-time and the game went to spot kicks which saw Hammarby win 6-5. Hammarby await the winners of Helsingborgs v Mjallby which is on tomorrow night.

Superettan play-off dates

The Promotion/relegation play-offs in the Superettan have been decided and the four teams will play over two legs to decide the places in the 2011 campaign.

Sunday 31st October:
Qviding v Osters
Sirius v Jonkoping Sodra

Sunday 7th November:
Osters v Qviding
Jonkoping Sodra v Sirius

The two winners are in the Superettan in 2011 while the losers go to the division 1.

BK Hacken 0-4 Malmo 27th October 2010

Malmo are back on top after they easily deposed of the challenge of BK Hacken at the Rambergsvallen. The game as a contest was over after 25 minutes by which Malmo raced into a 2-0 lead courtosy of goals from Daniel Larsson and Guillermo Molins.
The 2nd half was the same story with two goals late in the half from Yago Fernández to finish the game and ensure Malmo go back to the summit and with a healthy goal difference with just two games remaining.

Orebro 1-1 IF Brommapojkarna 25th October 2010

Orebro have qualified for the Europa League for next season after this 1-1 draw confirmed they can't be caught in 3rd place. At the opposite side of this result though, IF Brommapojkarna are all but gone from the Allsvenskan. hey can still avoid the drop via the play-offs but need a miracle to stay up via league position.
They took an early lead when Joakim Runnemo put them ahead but they couldn't hold on for a priceless victory. They conceded a penalty when Astrit Ajdarevic's volley was handled in the box and the former Liverpool academy player converted the resulting spot kick.
Later in the 2nd half IF Brommapojkarna had Pontus Segerstrom sent-off to comfound their problems.

IFK Goteborg 1-2 Trelleborgs 25th October 2010

A great win for Trelleborgs as they made the journey up the west coast to IFK. Things didn't get off to a great start though as Tobias Hysén put the hosts ahead. The southerners though did level on 54 minutes when Joakim Nilsson struck. Their night went from good to great when Marcus Pode hit the winner on 84 minutes as Trelleborgs took all three points.
IFK's hopes of Europe hit with this defeat while Trelleborgs are up to 9th and actually have a faint chance of the last Europa league spot but it would need a miracle. Trelleborg's status in the Allsvenskan is also secured after this result.

Halmstads 1-2 AIK 25th October 2010

AIK got a crucial victory as they beat fellow strugglers Halmstads 2-1. The game was akey game in the relegation battle and pulls AIK three points away from the play-off spot with two games to go. Halmstads are also just three points off 14th.
The opening goal was scored by AIK crucially thanks to Viktor Lundberg midway through the 2nd half. Kenny Pavey made it 2-0 five minutes after Lundberg's opener from the spot as AIK raced into a 2-0 lead.
Late on Anselmo struck for the Orjans Vall side but it wasn't enough to avoid defeat for Halmstads and now they need to win their remaining games to preserve their top flight status as do AIK.

First Allsvenskan relegation tonight?

The first relegation from the Allsvenskan could happen tonight but it does need scenarios to play-out.
Bottom club IF Brommapojkarna will be down should they fail to beat Orebro away tonight. To confirm relegation though should they lose they will need AIK to lose at home to Halmstads to keep them in the hunt of avoiding the drop.
A win for Halmstads tonight against AIK will gurantee their place in the Allsvenskan next season.

Relegation:
IF Brommapojkarna, Gefle, Atvidabergs, AIK, Halmstads and GAIS are the the sides definetely involved in the scrap while BK Hacken have a small chance of going down but unlikely.
The race to avoid the drop is going to be exciting as always especially since AIK, last season's champions could be playing in the Superettan a year and a half on. Some key games over the next two weeks for all sides.

Tonight:
Orebro v IF Brommapojkarna
Halmstads v AIK

Sunday:
Gefle v Djurgarden
Halmstads v Helsingborgs
AIK v Elfsborg

Next Monday:
IF Brommapojkarna v Malmo
Mjallby v Atvidabergs

7th November:
BK Hacken v IF Brommpojkarna
Djurgarden v Halmstads
IFK Goteborg v Gefle
Atvidabergs v AIK

Absolutely crucial games and the final day sees Atvidabergs host AIK and if results pan out they way they should to lead to a decider in this game then expect a massive scrap.

IF Brommapojkarna:
They will go down if they lose tonight and AIK win. If not they will go down next Monday should the lose to Malmo.

Gefle:
Gefle will go down if they lose their remaining two games.

Atvidabergs:
Will go down should Gefle win any of their remaining games and they lose both of theirs.

AIK:
AIK will go down if they lose all three of their remaining games and both Gefle and Atvidabergs win their remaining games

Halmstads:
Will go down should they lose all three remaining games and Gefle, Atvidabergs win both of theirs.

A delicate situation but exciting for the neutrals. One thing is for sure it is going to be tight and proberly the tightest of margins will seperate who goes down and who stays up.

Djurgarden 4-4 Elfsborg 24th October 2010

Proberly the match of the season as both sides shared eight goals and took part in a thrilling game. The result though is not the result Elfsborg would've wanted as a win would've ended the race for Europe for the other sides.
Prince Ikpe Ekong put the hosts ahead after 16 minutes before he found the net again but this time for Elfsborg as his own goal on 31 minutes levelled the scores.
Stefan Ishizaki then put the Boras club in front on 50 minutes which seemed to be enough for Elfsborg. Kennedy Igboananike levelled for Djurgarden but he was to turn out to be a factor in the race for Europe later on.
Former Gefle striker Amadou Jawo restored Elfsborg's lead on 63 minutes which again was cancelled out by Peter Gustafsson. Man of the season Denni Avdic again put Elfsborg ahead this time with just fifteen minutes to play.
Kennedy Igboananike did have a say on the matter as his injury time strike kept the race for Europe alive for four other sides including his own. Points dropped and with two games left it is getting heated.

Helsingborgs 3-0 Atvidabergs 24th October 2010

Helsingborgs went three points clear until Monday night at least with a thumping 3-0 win over relegation battlers Atvidabergs at the Olympia.
The result does Atvidabergs' hopes of top tier football in 2011 no favours while for Helsingborgs it puts the pressure on Malmo.
The game was over after twenty minutes when Alexander Gerndt on nine minutes and Erik Sundin twelve minutes later put Helsingborgs 2-0 up.
Erik Sundin added a third goal for the table-toppers on 68 minutes to complete the job and send Atvidabergs back home with their Allsvenskan future in the balance.

Kalmar 1-1 Mjallby 24th October 2010

A result neither wanted as the race for the Europa League places continue with just two games remaining. A European place for Mjallby would be a fantastic acheivement for the club on the south coast having just come up from the Superettan last season.
It was the 2008 Allsvenskan champions however that took the lead, thanks to Ricardo Santos on 56 minutes. The Mjallby rearguard was breached but their Kalmar counterparts were soon going to suffer the same feat when Mostapha El-Kabir struck. El-Kabir who surely will be moving on during the close season kept up his impressive season.
A draw with Kalmar up to 7th and five points from the last Europa league place with Mjallby in 5th and closer at four points adrift.

Gefle 1-0 GAIS 24th October 2010

Gefle will not be going down just yet. They managed to claw out a victory when they needed it most and a victory that could be worth more than just the three points today.
The hero on a very chilly afternoon in Gavle was Jakob Orlov who's strike on 39 minutes won the game. GAIS didn't really get going until the 2nd half when they had a couple of half-chances. The result though means that Gefle are in 15th with two to play. GAIS are 11th and not out of the relegation woods yet.

Superettan

The Superettan ended with Syrianska taking the title after they beat relegated Vasby United 3-0. The goals coming from Yusef Saleh and a double from Peter Ijeh. That result coupled with IFK Norrkoping's 1-1 draw at GIF Sundsvall meant they took the title and not Norrkoping. Although both can be happy with their seasons both would've wanted to go up as champions.
Elsewhere the standout result of the final day was Jonkoping Sodra beating Landskrona BoIS 4-1. J-Sodra will be in the relegation play-offs but on that form they will stay up.
Hammarby's season of woe ended with defeat at home to Orgryte with a last-minute winner from Alex Mellqvist. Osters put FC Trollhatten out of their misery and sent them down with a 2-1 win while Degerfors hit Ljungskile for five in a 5-3 win.

Results:
Jonkoping Sodra 4-1 Landskrona BoIS
Hammarby 1-2 Orgryte
Degerfors 5-3 Ljungskile
Vasby United 0-3 Syrianska
FC Trollhatten 1-2 Osters
IFK Norrkoping 1-1 GIF Sundsvall
IK Brage 1-1 Falkenberg
Assyriska 3-1 Angelholm

Final Table:
  1. Syrianska (56 points)
  2. IFK Norrkoping (56)
  3. GIF Sundsvall (51)
  4. Assyriska (46)
  5. Landskrona BoIS (45)
  6. Ljungskile (44)
  7. Falkenberg (44)
  8. Hammarby (43)
  9. Orgryte (42)
  10. Degerfors (42)
  11. IK Brage (41)
  12. Angelholm (37)
  13. Jonkoping Sodra (36)
  14. Osters (29)
  15. FC Trollhatten (23)
  16. Vasby United (18)

Suprettan final day

The Suprettan finishes today with everything nearly sorted. The last automatic relegation place is yet to be decided with FC Trollhatten battling against Osters but FC Trollhatten do need a miracle to overcome that goal difference.
The title is up for grabs between IFK Norrkoping and Syrianska. Syrianska are not actually confirmed as being promoted yet as GIF Sundsvall are just three points behind. They will be promoted by the end of today as they go to relegated Vasby United. A draw will be enough for Syrianska to go up but they would like to go up as champions. IFK Norrkoping are home to GIF Sundsvall and with a play-off spot guaranteed for Sundsvall this game will decide the title. Syrianska should win at Vasby so Norrkoping will have to win to confirm they go up to the Allsvenskan as champions.

Relegation is decided with the exception of the miracle FC Trollhatten need to sneak into the play-offs ahead of Osters. Vasby United are down while Jonkoping Sodra will be in the play-offs.
Elsewhere the two relegated clubs from the Allsvenskan last season do battle at the Soderstadion with Hammarby facing Orgryte. Hammarby's season has been poor with no real chance of promotion and crowd problems effecting the club. Orgryte have also suffered in the doldrums this season.

Fixture in full:
Jonkoping Sodra v Landskrona BoIS
Hammarby v Orgryte
Degerfors v Ljungskile
Vasby United v Syrianska
FC Trollhatten v Osters
IFK Norrkoping v GIF Sundsvall
IK Brage v Falkenberg
Assyriska v Angelholm

Top Scorers:
Linus Hallenius has the award pretty much sown up with his 18 goals this season. The former GIS Sundsvall hit-man has been the only shining light really at Hammarby this season. It is expected that he may well move on this winter to the Allsvenskan with a number of clubs monitoring him.
Peter Ijeh has also been in a great form this season. The Nigerian has notching up 15 goals in Syrianska's brillient season in which they will be promoted. The former Viking forward has his chance to grace the Allsvenskan in 2011.
Par Cederqvist has done exceptionally well this season for struggling Jonkoping Sodra. The forward who has 14 goals this season going into today has been the leading light at Jonkoping. Should Jonkoping Sodra lose in the play-offs expect Cederqvist to move on.

GAIS 0-1 Orebro 20th October 2010

Orebro have all but asured themselves of European football next season after a 1-0 success at GAIS. The goal came from Tommy Lycén who deflected in on 15 minutes which sets Orebro up nicely with just three games to play.
GAIS are still in the trouble at the bottom and need realistically one more victory to all but secure their Allsvenskan status for 2011.

Elfsborg 1-3 Helsingborgs 18th October 2010

Helsingborgs are level on points with Malmo. After Malmo were beaten last night, Helsingborgs did what they had to do and beat Europa League chasing Elfsborg 3-1 away to climb level. They opened the scoring on a cold night with May Mahlangu putting the title hopefuls in front on 12 minutes.
Mathias Florén levelled on the half-time whistle with Stefan Ishizaki involved in the build-up. Helsingborgs though are built of strong stuff these days and went ahead on 58 minutes when Erik Sundin pounced to planty past Jesper Christiansen. The game and points were effectively sealed on 73 minutes when Sundin got his 2nd. Helsingborgs a good job done last night now the hard work begins.

Malmo 0-1 Kalmar 18th October 2010

Could Malmo have lost the title last night? they looked all set to get at least a point until four minutes from time. The sky-blues have been impressive this season with their style of play and young squad but this could be a big defeat in the title race. Helsingborgs were also victorious last night which means they are both tied neck and neck on 58 points with just three to play. The only goal tonight came from Daniel Mendes as former champions Kalmar came away from the Swedbank Arena with all three points.

Lower leagues stories

Division 1 Norra:
The 3rd tier has had some twists and turns which had seen Hammarby TFF looking likes certaintees for promotion but Vasteras rallied and have won promotion instead with TFF slipping down into 4th. Relegation is nearly sorted with Arameisk-Syrianska, Bodens IF and BK Forward still in with a shout of avoiding the drop.

Division 1 Sodra:
Promotion not sorted yet with Qviding and IFK Varnamo fighting for the automatic spot. IF Sylvia are not out of the play-off reckoning yet with two games to play.
Relegation has been confirmed for two with Ytterby and Torslanda down to Division 2. Vastra Frolunda still have a chance of sneaking away from relegation. They do need to win by 10 goals over the course of their next two games and win to avoid the drop though.

Ostra Gotaland: Motala
Sodra Goteland: Varberg

IFK Norrkoping promoted

IFK Norrkoping are promoted to the Allsvenskan for next season. The side last played in the top division in 2008 when they finished bottom having only been promoted a year previous. One of the great names in Swedish football the club hope that this time they can push on an emulate the likes of Mjallby, Orebro and Trelleborg in prolonged stays in the top flight.
They won promotion after GIF Sundsvall in 3rd could only draw yesterday at home to relegation threatend FC Trollhatten and they themselves beat Angelholms away 2-1.
Elsewhere 2nd placed Syrianska will also be promoted if the avoid defeat on the final day which is against relegated Vasby United away. GIF Sundsvall have confirmed their place in the play-off with the draw with FC Trollhatten.
Down the table the final relegation issues will be sorted with FC Trollahtten needing a miracle to avoid the drop. FC Trollhatten will be going down with Vasby United with Osters and Jonkoping Sodra contesting in the play-offs with 2nd placed Division Norra side Sirius and one of IFK Varnamo and IF Sylvia in Division Sodra.

AIK 2-0 Gefle 16th October 2010

AIK got a vital win thanks to goals from summer signing Goran Ljubojevic and Mohamed Bangura who has had a fantastic season personally since signing in July. They were being fustrated before the goals however as they came up against an in-form Mattias Hugosson in the Gefle goal.
This defeat doesn't do Gefle's hopes of avoiding the drop any good while AIK still have work to do if they are to avoid going down.
