Gefle's change

2009 is proving to be a fantastic season for Gävle's Gefle IF. Such is their fantastic season, Gefle are in the running for a place in the Europa league.
Gefle in the Europa league would be an amazing feat for coach Per Olsson. After all this it is hard to think that Gefle were lucky to stay up last year. Only four points separated Gefle from relegation play-off occupiers Ljungskile, who eventually went down.
Gefle's location in Gavle means they are the furthest team north this year. Gefle have long trips to away games like Malmo, Trelleborgs and Goteborg but that hasn't affected them. Gefle have a strong unit with Hans Berggren leading the front line and Omar Jawo in the heart of defense and the strong Mattias Hugosson in goal.
Amadou Jawo was the midfield general up in Gavle until he left for Elfsborg. An unfancied side at the start of the season, Gefle are showing signs of what can be done in the Allsvenskan. But they aren't alone. Örebro, Trelleborgs and BK Häcken are all punching way above their weight in the Allsvenskan this season while the old-guard of Örgryte, Djurgården and Hammarby struggle. Watch out of Gefle in the closing months of this season.
